The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an organization that intends to supervise and liberalize international trade. The organization officially commenced on January 1, 1995 under the Marrakech Agreement, replacing the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), which commenced in 1948.
The main aim that the world trade organization is working towards, is to get all the food and medicine which is traded on an international platform, to comply to rules which obligates all medicine and food sold in Europe and America, to be genetically modified through codex alimentarius.
The WTO deals with making regulations of trade between participating countries; it provides a framework for negotiating and formalizing trade agreements, and a dispute resolution process aimed at enforcing participants’ adherence to WTO agreements which are signed by representatives of member governments.
The organization is attempting to complete negotiations on the Doha Development Agenda, or Doha Round, which was launched in 2001 with an explicit focus on addressing the needs of developing countries. Where the world trade organization (WTO) gets the right to sett rules that can change the agricultural farming methods of the developing countries.
Which will lead to the introducing of the codex alimentary (genetic modification of fertilizer, medicine and food), that is done for the developing countries, so that there agricultural crops may match up with the international agricultural trading policy or standard.
