Pharmacology (from Greek φάρμακον, pharmakon meaning “poison”, in classic Greek; this word means “drug” and in modern Greek; and -λογία, -logia this word means the “study of”, “knowledge of medicine”).
This is the branch of medicine and biology which is concerned with the study of drug action.
Pharmacy is a biomedical science concerned with application of the principles learned from pharmacology in its clinical settings; whether it be in a dispensing or clinical care role.
If a substance has medicinal properties, in pharmacology that substance is considered to be pharmaceuticals.
Pharmacology deals with how drugs interact within biological systems to affect function. It is the study of drugs, of the reactions of the body and drug on each other, the sources of drugs, their nature, and their properties.
Pharmacology is the study of chemicals, the mixture and manipulation of chemicals, so that they may be used in the treating of diseases (not the healing of diseases, but the treating of diseases).
The first pharmacology department was set up by Rudolf Buchheim in 1847, in recognition of the need to understand how therapeutic drugs and poisons (toxic) produced their effects.
In the field of pharmacology alot of drugs are made out of toxic chemicals like narcotica, Hydrofluoric acid, gasoline, chlorine, heroin etc
