The weekly Torah portion in Hebrew is known as ( Parashat ha-Shavua, popularly pronounced as parashah or parshah is a section of the Torah which is read every week.
There is a weekly Torah portion read every week:
There are 54 of such parashiyot (plural) or parshahs, which corresponds to the 54 or 55 weeks that are in a Jewish year.
Each week has a unique parsha which is read, and each parsha of the week also contains a prophetic insight of that week.
Torah portion used in prayer:
As one reads the Torah portion (parshah of the week), that Torah portion will also reflect (give insight, counsel, prophetic revelation and spiritual guidance to the reader).
Using the weekly Torah portions as prayer points:
The purpose of the Torah portions is to enable the human soul (mouth) to loudly proclaim or speak out God’s word written in the bible.
Joshua 1:8 declares that this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.
For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have a good success.
Isaiah 51:16 And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’”
Isaiah 59:21 “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them:
My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.
In the Jewish Synagogues:
The Parashah is read publicly and aloud by a designated reader (ba’al koreh) in Jewish prayer services, usually in full during the Shabbat (Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath) morning service and in part during the Shabbat afternoon and Monday and Thursday morning services.
