Yom Kippur; The day of Atonement starts on Sundown Tuesday 8th October, until Wednesday the 9th October of October 2019.
Yom kippur is the 10th day which falls in the 7th month called “Tishrei” on the Hebrew calendar.
On this day, beginning from the time when the sun is going down in the evening of the 9th of Tishrei, there is the fasting of 25 hours that is done (Leviticus 23:26-32).
What is the meaning of the word of Yom Kippur?
The Hebrew word “Yom Kippur” is made up of two Hebrew words, “Yom & Kippur”.
The Hebrew word “Yom” means “day”, and “Kippur” means, to atone, to renounce, to separate, to sanctify, to make holy, to be excluded from cruel judgment, to give a Karbon (to draw closer to God), to make a covenant bond, to appease or to make peace with God.
But also this same Hebrew word “Kippur” roots from the holy act of tithing or giving the tenth, (to give a sacrifice of atonement, to turn away from the works of the evil incarnation, so that one may be able to connect into God’s presence which atones one’s conscious from sin).
The Tree of knowledge of good & evil:
Yom Kippur was the same day when Adam was commanded not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil as in Genesis 2:17. And thus; the tree of knowledge of good and evil became the principle of tithing.
(Every Sabbath, Adam tithed the fruits of that Tree to God).
In this season according to the rabbinic teaching, the high priest went in the holies of holy once a year on Yom Kippur to seek for mercy, to intercede and to make atonement for the nation of Israel.
The blood from the animal sacrifice was sprinkled on the mercy seat on the Ark of the covenant on Yom Kippur.
Yom Kippur marks the day when the trumpet (shofar) of Jubilee is blown or sounded.
What does God do on Yom Kippur?
Yom Kippur; is the day when God Releases His people from the Debt of sin, it’s very important that we here on earth we also forgive other people’s shortcomings or debts.
