The word “month” originates from the word “moon”.
A month is a unit of time, or the counting of days or the time frame the moon takes to orbit around the Earth, used with calendars.
The traditional concept arose with the cycle of moon phases; such months (lunations) are synodic months and last approximately 29.53 days or 30 days.
Researchers have deduced that people counted days in relation to the Moon’s phases.
This method of counting days according to the moon cycle was a biblical Hebrew tradition which was used by the Hebrews taken from Genesis 1:14-15, and later on it was adopted by the kingdom of Babylon in Mesopotamia, Egypt and other nations.
Synodic months, based on the Moon’s orbital period, are still the basis of many calendars today, and are used to divide the year.
Revelation 22:2 says that the tree of life brought forth fruit every month, the month being the moon cycle of counting time on the Hebrew calendar.
