The mixing and making of strong Alcohol and intoxicating wine was done in honor of this god called “Bacchus”.
To much drinking of alcohol was practiced for the sake of taking the people out of their normal mental state, so that they may become like wild animals; daring to express their wild sexual desires and immoral behaviors.
Dionysian practice of orgy allowed the Bacchant (bacchus god of wild behavior)“ to emerge forth from the ‘self-ego‘ of human behavior, and after that; he was to be united with the god in the ecstatic exaltation of omophagia, dancing and wine.
This kind of bodily mysticism and psychosomatic liberation had only temporary effects each time — the period of the ekstasis or orgy took place.
