UN General Assembly votes in favor of Palestinian statehood

The Palestinians have now been voted into the recognition of attaining their rights via the UN.Â
Before the decision which took place on thursday, the Palestinian demands of wanting to possess the land of Israel by military force have been ignored, but after the vote of Thursday, the status of Palestine with the UN has been upgraded into the realm of obtaining favor from the UN.
The U.N. General Assembly voted on 29th Thursday of 2012 in favor of Palestinian statehood., after the Palestinians asked it to recognize a non-member state of Palestine in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem, and the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
UNITED NATIONS — Just nine nations voted against the Palestinian Authority’s upgrade to nonvoting observer state status, which passed the General Assembly 138-9, with 41 abstentions.
Those Voting “no” Thursday were Israel, the United States and Canada, joined by the Czech Republic, Panama and several Pacific island nations: Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru and Palau. The Pacific nations typically support the U.S. and Israel at the U.N.on key General Assembly resolutions
Just before the vote, Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Ron Prosor, warned the General Assembly that “the Palestinians are turning their backs on peace” and that the U.N. can’t break the 4,000-year-old bond between the people of Israel and the land of Israel.
