A census is the procedure of systematically acquiring and recording information about the members of a given population.
Census (censor) data is commonly used for research, business marketing, and planning, as well as a baseline for sampling surveys.
Other common censuses include agriculture, business, and traffic censuses. (Through census commodities were given a number of trade).
Via the ancient art of astrology (sorcery) of counting days, months and years on the solar calendar, people were reckoned or counted as commodities which benefited the system of their pagan gods, kings or rulers.
To declare a census means; the (accounting) which is done over the people that lives in a district or a community.
When ancient Rome declared a census in Israel, every body, (family) etc, had to be counted from a place that was in far off distance from his/her home Luke 2:1-6.
The census enabled Rome to know the occupation of every individual, and also set up a system of taxation for all of the people that lived in Israel.
