The word Pontiff means; from Latin pontifex, a word commonly held to come from the Latin root words pons (bridge) + facere (to do, to make), and so to have the literal meaning of “bridge-builder or maker”.
A bridge maker between this life and the underworld.
Nimrod was the founder and a high priest of the Babylonian system as in 1 Chronicles 1:10-13
His high priest title that he invented for himself was called pontiff, meaning that he was a bridge maker between this life and the underworld.
During the making of the Roman constitution of called Nicaea, the Roman Empire began to use the tittle attributing it to the honor of the gods of Babel (Babylon).
Dagon the philistian and Babylon fish god, from whence the mitre which was worn as a priest attire derives from.
Here you can see this babylonian dagon fish god attire designed for the pontiff with a open mouth which was worn on the head, and from the head this constume had an appearance of a fish as it is written in Judges 16:23, 1 Samuel 5:2-7 and 1 Chronicles 1:10-13.
Here is the fish-head mitre worn by the ranking clergy of the Catholic Church, in this case Pope John Paul II. The Attire is derived directly from the mitres of the ancient pagan fish-god Dagon.
The papal mitre represents the head of Dagon with an open mouth, which is the reason for the pointed shape and split top.
From the office of pontiff (being the head of the catholic), visions, ideas, and spiritual rituals of paganism deriving from Nimrod were transmitted into the Roman catholic church. And out of the office of pontiff, the constitution which designed the Byzantine rites was manifested.
