The Voice of Tensta visited Tensta arthall on Sunday the 24th of February 2013.
CinemAfrica had free movie screenings there for children aged 3- 15years.
We talked with some of the representatives from CinemAfrica and they told us that one of the purposes of these screenings is to show to the world who are most familiar with Hollywood movies, that there are many good quality movies and professional films that come from Africa.
And also to raise awareness of African art through film.
The first film shown was from Zimbabwe and for the younger children. It was called “Jungle Beat”, a series of animated short films, where the characters are animals, and they go through a lot of different situations.
The second film was from South Africa and was called “MySecret” and was for slightly older children and depicted the story of a brother and sister whose mother died, and they were left behind alone with no one who cared for them to cope on their own .
The siblings managed to get from the countryside into the city in search of a priest who was interested in the mother’s rugs that she made before she died.
But the children were forced to survive on the streets day and night in town while they were looking for the priest.
This was a very interesting video showing the reality in the African slums and the lives of street children in their daily lives.
Next Sunday, March 3 at 13:00, CinemAfrica will be back with a new movie called Boxing with Her (Tunisia, 2011).
