Veteran Dancehall star, Ninja Man is recovering in hospital from injuries sustained during a car accident he was involved in Thursday night.
The self-professed ‘Don Gorgon’ was on his way to Downsound Records when the crash occurred. As he reached Red Hills Road in Kingston, along Cassia Park, Ninja Man was thrown off by an oncoming driver coming at a high speed, causing the vehicles to collide.
Speaking from his hospital bed to IRIE FM on Friday, Ninja Man said he felt fine initially after the accident, but after deciding to perform at an event on Bob Marley Beach that night, he started to feel the after-effects when called on to perform by fellow entertainer, I-Octane.
“Mi neva feel too bad so me go and keep a birthnight party and me leave from deh suh go a Bob Marley Beach,” he explained. “When me go out an decide to do my performance, as mi touch the stage…mi start feel a vast amount of pain, right upside mi spine, pon di right hand side. So is like mi couldn’t even perform, mi haffi come off a di stage.”
He was then admitted into Kingston Public Hospital where he was checked for possible kidney damage after blood was found in his urine.
Nevertheless, with Ninja facing a May 13 date in his long-awaited murder trial, he’s optimistic about making a speedy recovery.
Mi a go a court pon di 13th, 20134 and di bed weh mi inna di hospital a di 13,” he said. “So dem three 13 deh, a some good sign.”
