Sanctify means;
To make holy, to separate someone or something from evil, to do a mitzvah, to keep God’s commandments.
to set apart to a sacred purpose or to religious use : consecrate, to free from sin, to purify.
The act of fulfilling the laws of moral values which are written down in the Torah.
John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. :To give moral or social sanction to someone or something.
To fulfil obedience towards God’s commandment, which commands a person to separate the Holy things from his/her abode or dwelling.
The Holy things which God commands humanity to give unto Him are as stated below:
marriage, tithe, obedience towards God’s word, offerings, Holy communion, keeping God’s commandments, keeping God’s season on God’s calendar, prayer, baptism or Mikvah etc,
these are the things which has the ability to sanctify a person’s character or life.
Sanctify – to set apart as or declare holy; consecrate.
synonyms: consecrate, make holy, make sacred, bless, hallow, set apart, dedicate to God, anoint, ordain, canonize, beautify.
make legitimate or binding by a religious ceremony.
“their love is sanctified by the sacrament of marriage”
synonyms:
purify, cleanse, free from sin, absolve, unburden, redeem, wash someone’s sins away;
:to make productive of holiness <to observe the seventh day of the sabbath, to sanctify it — Deuteronomy 5:12>
The word “sanctify” derives from the Hebrew word called “Mitzvah“-which means to do, to practice or to keep God’s holy commandments.
