A Roman census (that began from Easter –spring time, which finishes around the season of summer time.
Census of Quirinius:
The Census of Quirinius was a census of Judaea taken by Publius Sulpicius Quirinius, Roman governor of Syria, upon the imposition of direct Roman rule in 6 CE.
The author of the Gospel of Luke uses it as the narrative means to establish the birth of Jesus
Purpose of the Census:
This census was designed to counterfeit and oppose the seven weeks or the Omer counting of the Jewish nation.
When ancient Rome declared a census in Israel, every body, (family) etc, had to be counted from a place that was in far off distance from his/her home Luke 2:1-6.
Another commentary says; people had to be counted from their own birth places that they belonged to.
Joseph and Mary belonged to Bethlehem in the land of Judah (Judea), that is where they went to be counted.
Why was it important for Rome to count Israel?
That is why it was very important for Rome to know who belonged to Bethlehem, the Land of Judah (Judea).
Prophecy of the new born king of Israel:
During the time when Herod the Great and Herod I, was a Roman client king of Judea, Israel was suffering under the oppression of the Roman colonial rule.
But through all this Israel still had hope, in the scriptures and prophetic oral teachings that talked about a new born king, who will derive from the lineage of Jesse – the father of king David, coming out of Bethlehem, born as a child,
Who will raise up to govern Israel as kingdom as it is written in Isaiah 9:6.
The census enabled Rome to know the occupation of every individual, their lineage and descent, and also set up a system of taxation for all of the people that lived in Israel.
Another reason why Rome did the counting was to counterfeit the Omer counting which Israel was commanded to do according to Leviticus , which begins from Passover (Spring time) and finishes on Pentecost (Shavuot) – summer time.
The pagan census; also being a prototype of the pagan counting which was decreed by Pharoah against the first born of the Jewish slaves in Egypt.
Moses who was supposed to be born on Pentecost in Summer, was instead released (born) out of his mother’s womb alittle bit earlier (early Spring –Adar), so that the predication of the stargazers and the astrologers may come into confusion.
(The Astrologers of Egypt had predicted that a deliverer of the Jews, who will deliver them from Egypt will born in the season of summer).
On that same day of Pentecost or Shavout, the floating basket containing Baby Moses was drawn from the River Nile by the daughter of Pharoah.
Numbers 23:9 and verse 23 says; Israel shall not be Reckoned among the nations…because there is no sorcery and witchcraft against Israel.
The Roman Census was a pagan ritual which originated from the Ancien practice of Egypt, Babylon, Sodom and Gommorah.
Through the census, pagan kings and leaders forced every one to worship goddess Eashtoreth, who marked the begining of spring time, also being the deity or futility of Spring, thus-being a godess, Ashtoreth (Easteroth) who was the reflection, reflecting the rebelion of EVE which took place in the garden in Eden during the Hebrew month of Nisan.
