Yoweri Kaguta Museveni born 15 August 1944 is a Ugandan politician who has been President of Uganda since 29 January 1986.
Museveni was involved in the war that deposed Idi Amin Dada, ending his rule in 1979, and in the rebellion that subsequently led to the demise of the Milton Obote regime in 1985.
Museveni has brought relative stability and economic growth to a country that has endured decades of government mismanagement, rebel activity and civil war. His tenure has also witnessed one of the most effective national responses to HIV/AIDS in Africa.
In the mid-to-late 1990s, Museveni was lauded by the West as part of a new generation of African leaders. His presidency has been marred, however, by invading and occupying Congo during the Second Congo War (the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo which has resulted in an estimated 5.4 million deaths since 1998) and other conflicts in the Great Lakes region.
Museveni’s rule which began as a political movement that was supposed to initiate the Ugandan’s into their democratic status, in a duration of almost 27 years of regime, Museveni’s government has evolved into the miss rule of dictatorship and a misuse of Ugandan funds according to some of the complaints of the citizens in the country.
But on the other hand; Museveni’s military troops and strategies has managed to frustrate a lot of upcoming warfares which could have dismantled the developments which are done by the foreign investors and private owned businesses in Uganda.
