Autism – pervasive developmental disorders

Autism is one of the five pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), which are characterized by widespread abnormalities of social interactions and communication, and severely restricted interests and highly repetitive behavior.
A child who is suffering from Autism may have no interest in socializing with other children, and may also lack the ability of being imaginative during the time of playing structured games, and drawing man formulated works of arts.
Autistic children may have difficulty with imaginative play and with developing symbols into language, and lack the desire to learn.
Autistic infants show less attention to social stimuli, smile and look at others less often, and respond less to their own name.
: a variable developmental disorder that appears by age three and is characterized by impairment of the ability to form normal social relationships, by impairment of the ability to communicate with others, and by stereotyped behavior patterns.
