Profanity (also called bad language, swearing, vulgar speech or cursing) is a subset of a language’s lexicon that is considered by some to be strongly impolite or offensive.
It can show a desecration or debasement of someone or something, or show strong or intense emotion of rejection which can lead to gossip, speaking evil or insulting.
Profanity can take the form of words, expressions, gestures (such as flipping the middle finger), or other social behaviours that are construed or interpreted[by whom?] as insulting, rude, vulgar, obscene, obnoxious, foul, desecrating, or other forms.
That which stimulates the energies of violence, immorality and confusion when uttered.
The term “profane” originates from classical Latin “profanus”, literally “before (outside) the temple”. It carried the meaning of either “desecrating or disrespecting what is holy” or “with a secular purpose” as early as the 1450s CE.
In the ancient days, Profanity was a practice practiced by demon possessed people who were mentally over powered by the mental illness of paranoia, schizophrenia, and other mental disabilities.
People suffering from the sydrome of Tourette are also known for uttering words of profanity.
Through the art of speaking, a mad or a mentally Sick person could start speaking words of insult, calling upon satanic names or Satan, and the speaking of profanity against God and the holy things of God.
Thus the scripture declares that God created man in His image… Profanity aims at the desecrating, insulting, and speaking evil against what God has declared as a holy thing.
