Due to the spiritual pagan festival which are celebrated during the season of winter solstice (which falls in the month of December), many pagan celebrations that worships many gods or deities, claimed the season to be a season of making peace with the deities. 

According to the pagan practice of divination, there is an ancient predication or spiritual instruction that directed their ancestors and children to sacrifice pig to their gods, and also make pork meat into their favorite meal during this season. 

The feastival of saturnalia by celebrated by the Romans, the feast of Yule tide by the Vikings, the feast of Christmas by the Romans, catholic church and Christians, the festival of soyal winter solstice ceremony of the Zuni people and the Hopi Indians.

All these festivals were related to the sacrificing of pigs to their pagan gods, and the eating of pork meat during winter.
