The Lord of Misrule — was an officer appointed in within the catholic church by lot at Christmas to preside over the Feast of Fools (April fool’s day) which falls in spring time.
The Lord of Misrule was generally a peasant or sub-deacon appointed to be in charge of Christmas revelries, which often included drunkenness, orgy, wild partying, bestiality, and group sex in the pagan tradition of Saturnalia.
His main role:
The lord of misrule motivated the people into the act of fulfilling the lusts of their wild animalistic nature during the season of Saturnalia which falls in winter (christmas) time. His role was to stimulate and exalt the self ego and selfish pride in the people’s behaviors.
While mostly known as a British holiday custom, the appointment of a Lord of Misrule comes from antiquity.
In ancient Rome, from the 17th to the 24rd of December, a Lord of Misrule was appointed for the feast of Saturnalia, in the honor and reverence of the Roman deity or god called “Saturn”.
Teaching the children disobedience and rebellion:
“This festival teaches even the little children, artless and simple, to be greedy, disobedient, immoral and accustoms them to go from house to house and to offer novel gifts, fruits covered with silver tinsel (trick and treat).
For these they receive, in return, gifts double their value, and thus the tender minds of the young begin to be impressed with that which is commercial and sordid.”
The Lord of misrule’s commands of profanity were exercised and carried out during christmas and on the 1st of April fool’s day.
The lord of Misrule used to boost the business of product selling:
The aim of electing the lord of misrule was to get the people into the act of falling into debt (debt bondage), geting the people to spend all their savings on the wild parties and the products which were sold in the market, during the season of saturnalia (christmas).
Acording to the Roman law; After the festival, the lord of misrule was always killed.
