The miracle of crossing the red sea occurred 7 days after the children of Israel had departed from Egypt in the hebrew month of Nisan (spring time).
From the day of Passover (departure from Egypt) until the time when Israel reached the red sea was a period of 6 days, and on the 7th day they crossed the red sea.
God performed the miracle of opening up the red sea via His servant Moses, so that His people may walk on a dry land to get to other side of the sea.

The Miracle of the Red Sea:
Then God spoke to Moses: “raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and split it, and the children of Israel shall come in the midst of the sea on dry land.”
Moses did as God ordered him. He raised his staff, and stretched his hand over the sea; a strong east wind rose and blew the whole night.
The waters of the Red Sea were immediately divided and gathered into a wall on either side, leaving a dry passage in the midst.
The Israelites marched at once along that dry path which extended from shore to shore, and gained the opposite side in safety.
That night God parted the waters of the Red Sea, the Hebrews crossed out of all Egyptian jurisdiction into Midian.
As the Egyptians were trying to follow after the children of Israel through the open read sea, God closed up the waters, and the Egyptian bondage chapter of Israel’s history was finally over – just as God had promised it would be.
And a new chapter of their relationship with God began, so they sang a song of praise and victory in Exodus 15:1-27.
