To Predict – the meaning of the word prediction

A prediction (Latin præ-, “before,” and dicere, “to say”) or forecast is a statement about the way things will happen in the future, often but not always based on experience or knowledge.
: to declare or indicate in advance; especially : foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason.
Although guaranteed accurate information about the future is in many cases impossible, prediction can be useful to assist in making plans about possible developments; Howard H.
Stevenson writes that prediction in business “… is at least two things: Important and hard.”
Forecasting is the process of making statements about events whose actual outcomes (typically) have not yet been observed.
Through pagan rituals, predicting of the future is a done through astrology or astrologers.
The western field of scientific research which deals with the investigating of future events, economic indicators are used for predicting future investment, art of investigating stock futures etc could also fall into the realm of using predication in one way or another.
The art of prophecy where a prophet utters out events that will occur in the future is also known as prediction.
In the culture of name giving, certain meanings of names are used to predict the the fate or future outcome of the person who is given the name.
