Reggae Soldier Music artiste and community builder from Ugand
Reggae Soldier Biography
Reggae Soldier was born “Robert Opha Kayiira” in 1982 in Mukono, UGANDA. Having grown up in a Religious and Musical family, he was exposed to singing with imported sounds of Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson and the late Philly Lutaaya at an early age.
Reggae Soldier’s music carries a message of raising issues affecting communities such HIV/AIDS, poverty, Gender Based Violence, food security, corruption, nepotism and conflicts. The music is intended to bring peace and harmony as portrayed by his songs such as “Back To One”, “Mandela Madiba 46664”, “Brotherhood“and “Respect Society”.
Developing and training of cultural talents:
Robert Opha Kayira also works with training the youth into skilled studio producers, musical instrument players, assembling and putting together live music bands, vocal training and music composers. He has also composed a lot of songs for other musicians In Uganda who have now become mainstream artistes.
Organisation working with employment and society building:
Robert Opha Kayiira is a co-founder of a Community Based Organization called Tukole Namanyi Tufunne (TuNaTu). “Tukole Namanyi Tufunne” can be translated as “Let’s work hard to achieve”. TuNaTu was established in February 2013 in Kampala, Uganda.
The CBO aims at discovering unexploited economic potential existing within Ugandan communities especially vulnerable people (HIV/AIDS victims, widows, orphans and poor unemployed people). TuNaTu equips them with skills training and empowers them to become self-reliant through Art and Crafts, Music and Farming thus improving their livelihood.
Women’s department:
The organization supports and employes close to 150 women. This department of the Organization empowers women, trains women and supports their dreams as well as equipping their cultural talents and skills, and providing them with employment too.
