The Day of the Lord
2 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand:
Hebrew trumpet (Shofar):
The biblical trumpet is known as the Shofar in Hebrew.
It is made out of aram’s horn or the horn of Gazelle.
According to the biblical or Ribbinic laws, (God commanded Moses), that the Shofar trumpet should always be blown on the holy feasts of God, feasts like; Rosh Hashanah, Yomkipur (the day of Atonement), Passover, Shavuot, (Pentecost), new moon full moon etc…
1 Thessalonians 4:16
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Psalm 81:3
3 Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.
There are four different sounds, and each sounds has a snignificant meaning:
These four sounds form a set, called a Tekiyot of shofar blasts.
In the sounding of the Shofar the
1st sound -Tekiah is 1blast,
2nd sound – the Shevarim is 3 wavering continuous blasts,
3rd sound – Teruah is 9 very short staccato blasts.
4th sound – Tekiah Gedolah is a very long blast
1 Corinthians 15:52-53
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last TRUMPET. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Isaiah 27:12-13
12 And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord will thresh, From the channel of the River[ to the Brook of Egypt; And you will be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel.
13 So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet (Shofar) will be blown; They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria, And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt, And shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem
