What is an Ephah?
Exodus 16:36
Now an omer is one-tenth of an ephah.
An Ephah was an Omer or measurement, which was contained in the different offerings which Israel gave to their God.
Every offering which was given to the God of Israel in the (Temple or Tabernacle) as an offering, contained an Omer – Ephah in it.
This Ephah was measured in the amount of a tenth of Omer, containing a tithe or tenth in it.
When we honestly give our offerings (tithe, respect, love, obedience, sacrifices) with out grudging,
giving them in their right amount and appointed times, that also becomes honest scales of righteous deeds before the God of Israel.
Leviticus 19:36:
You shall have honest scales, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
On Pentecost, the God of Israel commanded Israel to bring the two wave loaves of two tenths of an ephah as an offering, – One representing the old testament, and the other the new testament.
Leviticus 23:17
You shall bring from your dwellings two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah.
They shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven. They are the firstfruits to the Lord.
Numbers 28:13:
and one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mixed with oil, as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Malachi 3:7-8:
7 Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances
And have not kept them.
Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts. “But you said,
‘In what way shall we return?’
8 “Will a man rob God?Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.
Exodus 16:15-17:
15 So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.
And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.
16 This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons;
let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ”
