Matthew 25:1-13:
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins:
25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
The five wise virgins were ready to go into the Bridegroom’s banquet, but the 5 foolish ones were not ready:
Matthew 25:2-13:
2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
The foolish 5 virgins lack obedience towards God’s commandments:
3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Exodus 27:20:
“And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the (7 lamp stand) to burn continually.
Matthew 25:5-13:
5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
Midnight cry of the watchers is heeard – Shofar sound blast is blown:
Matthew 25:6-13:
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’
7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
1 Corinthians 15:52:
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet (the 4 different Shofar sound are progressively being blown and heard)…
8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
The picture of rapture – Final banquet:
1 Corinthians 15:52:
… For the trumpet (Shofar sound – last sound known as Tekiah Gedolah in Hebrew) will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
Rejected and left behind – after the rapture:
Matthew 25:11-13:
11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’
12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Matthew 7:22:
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Matthew 25:13: Watch (keep God’s seasons)
13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
