The word to besiege means to put a city or region where people live into the state of emergency.

To make a group of people desperate, fearful, distressful, intimidated, insecure or tormented by the bad news of terror and media of horror.

The act of using biological warfare of releasing viruses, deaseases and sicknesses, with the aim of making the besieged people into victims that will surrender to the dictatorship of their harsh ruler.

1 Kings 8:37:

“When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers;

when their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

In the time when a city is besieged, the resources of trade, exchange, food supply etc are cut off, which leads to famine (lack of food):

2 Kings 6:25:

And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver.

Dreams of war, mental illness, torment, terror, and the fear that affects people’s mindset is a sign that the people are being besieged:

Isaiah 21:2:

A distressing vision is declared to me;

The treacherous dealer deals treacherously, And the plunderer plunders. Go up, O Elam! Besiege, O Media! All its sighing I have made to cease.

Famine, viruses, sicknesses that affects the people on a big scale were a sign that those people are being besieged by their enemies:

Jeremiah 21:9:

He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but he who goes out and defects to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be as a prize to him.

To surround someone with military forces, with the aim to restrain, intimidate etc,

untill the surrounded victim begins to get desperate, fight his own people, divid & rule, cause a genocide, mob justice etc..

Jeremiah 19:9:

And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters,

and everyone shall eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and in the desperation with which their enemies and those who seek their lives shall drive them to despair.” ’

To make a group of people fearful to the extent that they loose faith in God:

Jeremiah 32:24:

‘Look, the siege mounds!

They have come to the city to take it;

and the city has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword and famine and pestilence.
