Praise is the act of making positive statements about a person, object or idea, either in public or privately.
Some times praise also involves the lifting up of one’s hands, and the clapping of hands used as a sign to show appreciation, to express approval, to reward or to parsie one’s act.
Praise is typically, but not exclusively, earned relative to achievement and accomplishment.
: to say or write good things about (someone or something) : to express approval of (someone or something)
: to express thanks to or love and respect for (God)
To speak words or sing songs of compliment which produces the ability to stimulate and activate the psychological energies of confidence, joy, and creativity.
The art of praise (praising God) has been used by the biblical Hebrew people to eliminate fear, and also overcome the attacking strategies of their enemies.
Praise is often contrasted with criticism. In criticism one aims at speaking negative or critical remarks about some one, whereas praise is the exaggeration of speaking good or complimenting of someone’s character or nature.
Some psychological theories hold that a person’s life is largely made up of attempts to win praise or reward for their actions.
However, some people are less affected by or even averse to praise, for example people with autism or schizoid personality disorder.
