Exodus – What does the word Exodus mean?
The Book of Exodus or, simply, Exodus (from Greek ἔξοδος, exodos, meaning “going out”; Hebrew: שמות‎, Sh’mot, “Names”), also Exodus being the second book in the old testament.
Exodus means seeing and experiencing : they saw and experienced evil in Egypt and cried unto God for a deliverer, and God sent them (Moses) who delivered them from Egypt.Â
The word Exodus means; the movement that is organized to move a big number of people from the place of slavery, bondage, compromise, debt, limitations, and witchcraft oppressions, so that one may begin to move, to accept, to embrace, and to live according to the standards of their promised land.
Exodus is the exercising of obedience towards God, (the children of Israel sacrificed a passover lamb to God ), an act which eventually motivated and activated the event of coming from disobedience, and passing over into the obedience which puts in motion the energy of redemption.
The book of Exodus:
The book tells how the Israelites leave slavery in Egypt through the strength of Yahweh, the God who has chosen Israel as his people. Led by their prophet Moses they journey through the wilderness to Mount Sinai, where Yahweh promises them the land of Canaan (the “Promised Land”) in return for their faithfulness.
Israel enters into a covenant with Yahweh who gives them their laws and instructions for the Tabernacle, the means by which he will dwell with them and lead them to the land, and give them peace.
Exodus being the season when God’s people are pushed into the motion of moving out of the place that limits their spiritual abilities or physical gifts and talents, so that they may be able to enter into the realm that allows them to be able to see the God’s vision, to embrace the God’s vision, and accept God’s purpose over their lives.
