The word “pagan” is most frequently used in speaking of the ancient Greeks and Romans:

The worship of many spirits, demons, ancient sculptures of ancient dead kings, and angels as gods.
The worshiping of or belief in more than one god. The ritual of sacrificing babies and human beings to pagan gods or demons.
Synonyms: primitive, uncultivated, uncultured, heathenish, barbaric, barbarous, philistine, canaanite.
