Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior.
Psychology is really a very new science, with most advances happening over the past 150 years or so.
Western academics:
However, its origins which were accepted by the western academics can be traced back to ancient Greece, 400 – 500 years BC.
In the Hebraic (biblical) point of view:
The word psychology literally means,
“study of the soul” (ψυχή, psukhē, meaning “breath”, “spirit”, or “soul”).
The Hebraic (biblical) sense of psychology has it’s root in Genesis 2:7
And the Lord God breathed the breath of life into the nostrils of Adam, and man became a living soul.
Psychology is an academic and applied discipline that involves the scientific study of human or animal mental functions and behaviors.
Psychology is the pattern of thoughts, ideas, academic studies,
and the habits or characteristics which governs one’s life.
The psychological status in humans:
Every human being has got a psychological status of thoughts, ideas, desires, passions, habits, lust etc, which governs his/her life.
And this psychological state has the ability to grow and develop.
The state in which one’s psychology grows and changes is called “Psychological development“.
(People who are exposed to wise counsel behave wisely,
but a companion of fools will always make foolish decisions).
A person who wants to change from a bad habit of smoking,
must first deal with the psychological status (mental state) of his soul.
Humans develop pschologically through learning:
By learning new ideas, entertaining positive and motivating information,
and socializing with people that can encourage, empower,
and inspire one’s inner ability, such activities carries the energies which can develope and change one’s psychological status.
Changing of habits begins it’s process in the psychological state of the limbic system,
but also the resistance of new ideas in one’s life takes place in the primitive part of the brain.
The scientist that deals with the field of research in psychology are called “psychologists”.
Psychologists explore concepts such as perception, cognition, attention, emotion, phenomenology,
motivation, brain functioning, personality, behavior, and interpersonal relationships.
Psychologists of diverse stripes also consider and explore the unconscious mind.
Psychological knowledge is often applied to the assessment and treatment of mental health problems,
it is also applied to understanding and solving problems in many different spheres of human activity.
