Sivan (Hebrew: סִיוָן, Standard Sivan Tiberian Sîwān ;
from Akkadian simānu, meaning “Season; time“) is the third month of the ecclesiastical year on the Hebrew calendar.
It corresponds to the son of Jacob called “Zebulun“.
It is a spring/summer month of 30 days.
Sivan usually falls in May–June on the Gregorian calendar.
This month represents Gemini-Twins (the month of twins or marrige –Ish and Isha,
Ruth and Boaz, marriage between God and Israel),
which reflects the two wave loaves of Challah bread (first fruits) that were offered during the feast of Shavuot (pentecost) as in Leviticus 23:16-17.
In terms of its shape, and purpose of the month,
the Hebrew letter zayin is made up of a letter vav with a crown attached to its head representing the 3rd month (Sivan) on the Hebrew calendar.
The sages associate the letter zayin with the word “this” (זֶה ).
This word alludes to the unique nature of Moses’ prophecy,
which took place in the hebrew month of Sivan during the giving of the oral law and the Torah on mount Sinai.
(On mount Sinia Moses was also commanded by God to translate the Torah into 72 langauges on Pentecost – Shavout).
On the 50th day of Shavout (Pentecost), the sound of the trumpet of the shofar was heard,
and Moses spoke and God answered him by voice Exodus 19:17-20.
Sivan being the Hebrew month when the voice (prophecies) of God crowns His people with a crown of kingship, royalty and sovereignty on Shavuot or Pentecost.
But on the other hand;
Sivan was also the month in which the many confusing voices which initiated the destruction of the tower of Babel were released over the builders of the tower.
The Zodiac sign of this month is called Gemini (the twins).
